The 4 Wellness Website Fundamentals

The 4 Key takeaways from this page are (hopefully) going to shift the way you approach your entire nutrition business and serving your clients, my friend.

We're keeping this SIMPLE, because simple works the best.

I’m going to share with you the exact webpages you need on your nutrition or wellness website and what to say on each page.

I will teach you how to create a digital storefront that turns “window shoppers” into ecstatic, paying clients if you’re willing to really internalize these concepts and put them to use.

You may need to re-read this series a few times. In fact, that's a good plan.

Like we talked about on the last pagemost people won’t do this work to simplify their ideas and messaging into a strategic website that converts prospective clients into raving fans that work with you for a long, long time and send referrals every chance they get.

I totally understand why. The "payoff" isn't always immediate.

(These are the same passionate folks I see diligently posting on social media every.single.day. without seeing any profits in their business, and I hate to see it because they truly want to impact the health and wellness of the people they’re speaking to, but it’s not working.)

There is a much better way if you understand the 4 Wellness Website Fundamentals.

So let's get to it, already!

#1: Your website is your hardest working employee, but you need to train it

I really want you to grasp this. Re-read that last line again. Your website works for you. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

If set up properly, your website is the little engine that could and will work on your behalf tirelessly to answer customer service questions, attract the best clients to your digital storefront like bees to honey, and then serve them immense value on autopilot so they can't wait to work with you further.

This is a priority, my friend. Getting your website working like the well-oiled machine it is meant to be is crucial.

You're going to have to get your hands dirty. No one else is going to step up to the plate and build/renovate your digital freedom factory. That's your job.

You have to train this tireless digital employee to do the tasks you need it to do.

A website doesn't generate sales or create happy clients without you telling it how to do that.

If you currently have a mish-mash of random blog posts, 89 different packages and ways for clients to work for you haphazardly advertised on your site, along with 4 different "specialties" and some stock food photos for good measure, I'm glad you're here today.

Time to fix that hot mess!

You only need 5-7 specific pages on your website and a few buttons.

We'll talk about those in detail in a minute, but for today I want you to really internalize the concept that your website will work for you if you train it like a new employee.

This brings us to the second fundamental that we have to talk about...

#2: A social media profile is NOT a website (owning vs. renting)

This is a slippery slope, because setting up a social media business "page" is fast and you can start making offers to help people really quickly.

That's a good thing. Make offers, get clients, get paid and get started!

Grab that low-hanging fruit and get some momentum if you can, but please prioritize getting your own website up and running asap. Don't put it off.

You don't OWN any of your social media profiles, pages or content.

Let that sink in as a really important reminder.

At any moment, the algorithm of those platforms can (will) change and your audience will no longer see what you're posting.

We've already seen this happen over and over again as censorship in the holistic wellness space gets worse and worse.

Overnight, that social media platform will become totally useless to your business.

This is because you're RENTING attention and relevance on those "free" platforms. You don't own it.

Your website and your email list, on the other hand, are the assets you OWN. Always prioritize improving, "renovating" and maintaining those assets because they are yours.

In fact, I want you to consolidate your most valuable social media content into an "Ultimate Guide" or other resource that you can offer on your website; either as a lead magnet to get email subscribers, or as standalone web pages that you can promote with ads, Pinterest search results, Google search results, etc, to get more eyeballs on your website.

More about that later. Let's not get ahead of ourself. ;)

#3: Nothing in your business is free. You either pay with your time or your money.

This website fundamental is really important to talk about because most of us come into the Solopreneuer / CEO Role in our wellness practice wearing all the hats.

Bookkeeper, marketing department, IT department, customer service, copywriter, product fulfillment...and that's before even working with actual clients!

Yep, there's a lot going on. This is why I want to help you simplify the most important aspects of your business by spending time on a really well-oiled website machine and automated systems that will grow with you.

Sidebar: By setting up these easy "systems" that I'll share with you in this series, which definitely required some up front effort, I have more than doubled my annual revenue while working approximately 10 hours a week.

That's what I want for you, too. You'll have so much more freedom to deeply impact your clients when you have the mental space and time to pour into them.

Back to DIY vs Outsourcing. It seems logical to DIY everything when you're new in your business or not making a steady income, yet. I get it.

But where did this belief come from that we shouldn't be investing capital in the startup of our business?!

When a chiropractor opens their practice, do they spend two months learning how to create a "free" Wordpress website and making crappy looking graphics on Canva?

I hope not! They get to work serving clients and spend some startup cash hiring experts and setting up systems to do the rest.

There's a lot of wisdom to be gleaned from that example, but you have to know your own strengths on this one.

If you're somewhat tech savvy already, it's probably not going to be a road block for you to get your website and email list set up using the simple framework I am going to share.

Perhaps you would be best served to outsource the graphic design aspects of your biz or marketing to speed things up.

If, on the other hand, the technology aspect of your practice is so overwhelming that it keeps you from moving forward, you need to quit trying to DIY and outsource! (More on how to do that coming up.)

Either way, you have to keep in mind the "cost" of your time.
Your time is not free because it's costing you work with paying clients.

I know, it's counterintuitive because I'm telling you that you need to get your hands dirty while also showing you why outsourcing some of the draining tasks keeping you stuck in your business makes sense.

It will all make more sense when we start putting this all together, I promise.

For now, I wanted to plant the seed that DIY is not really free.

Most of the time, it's actually cheaper to invest in and learn good systems that will grow with your business now instead of DIYing the "cheapest" tech options available that require months of your time; and then ultimately upgrading and migrating everything later on, anyway.

Speaking from experience on that one, my friend!

It was NOT cheaper and cost me months of lost revenue when I believed that DIYing and wearing all the hats in my business was necessary.

Ok, let's land this plane with the fourth Wellness Website Fundamental.

4. The technology to run your entire business online is easy to learn (or can be inexpensively outsourced)

When I was first starting my online business in 2015, even though that really wasn't all that long ago, the tech piece was very complicated.

There was domain hosting, a website platform, a separate email service provider for my email list, a separate landing page builder, a separate software for hosting my online courses and taking payments that took a percentage of each purchase, webinar software that was super complicated and glitchy and cost over $1000 a year...

That's just what I can list off the top of my head.

There were A LOT of moving parts, the different systems didn't "talk" to each other very well, and it was pretty expensive (relatively speaking) to pay for each service separately.

But I did it! I learned how to make everything work, and I'm sure glad I did, because I now have such a deep appreciation for the simplicity of our current tech options that are so easy and inexpensive to use.

(I will tell you all about the exact systems I currently use and recommend these days later in this Workshop where I go through an honest review of certain features and what you really need to get your wellness website up and running without overcomplicating things.)

Let's stick to the fundamentals, though: It's as easy as ever to learn how to create a great website and start consistently sending emails to your list. Don't be intimidated. I'll show you how to keep it simple.

One of my members recently compared figuring out the technology to market her nutrition business online to learning Chinese in her 50's. 😂

I loved that analogy, because she was explaining how proud she was of herself for following through and learning this new skill, which she can now continue to hone for years to come.

It's also great for her (and you) to know the basics yourself, so you when you outsource to a freelancer at any point in the future, you understand what they're doing and how to edit or tweak things without their help when needed.

With that being said, I have to reiterate that it is very inexpensive to outsource the technology aspects of your business to actual experts overseas that can do the tasks way faster and better, in most cases.

So if you don't want to learn Chinese, so to speak, you don't have to.

Another one of my members decided to outsource the entire creation of her brand new website and membership site using the framework I'll be showing you over the next few pages, which gave her the accountability she needed to follow through and get it done.

She reported that hiring a VA (virtual assistant) to do her website actually held her accountable because she had someone waiting on her to whip up the copy when it was needed, send photos, and just get it done.

If you're needing that same kind of "push", you'll love the free bonus course I'm going to give you access to where I teach exactly how to find and hire these (very inexpensive) experts for yourself!

Let's recap.

As we already discussed, most nutritionists will never “hire” their best digital employee (website + email list) to work for them 24/7 because it requires some up front effort that doesn’t always appear to be paying off right away.

They would rather continue posting on social media, with *crickets* as the response, and feel so frustrated about the lack of results in their biz...because that's what they think other successful practitioners are doing.

Since you're still reading this, I think it's safe to assume you're going to go a different route and commit to getting a website that you're so stinkin' proud to send people to up and running this month so you don't have to rely on social media platforms at all.

To do this, you're going to need to roll up your sleeves and take inventory of what you've already got and (probably) simplify it quite a bit.

But that's the fun part!

We'll dive into the details of that more on the next page. You still with me?
