The Best Website Builder And Site Designer For Health Coaches & Other Niche Professions (2023)

The most important part of your business is your website and you NEED to entrust the building of that website to only the best site designer or website builder the web has to offer.  Here are my 2 top recommendations

Your website is your online store. Your biz's online home and the harbinger of your online presence. Yes, you will upgrade it and renovate it over time (just like your house) and it will appreciate in value.Isn't that great news? This is an investment that will continue to get more valuable over time. I promise.

After all, your website is the digital real estate you OWN! (In other words, it's an asset.)

Not to be confused with a social media platform or Facebook page that you DO NOT OWN, my friend.

If you're reading this right now, you clearly know that you need to have a professional website if you're going to be a successful health coach online, which is great. You're totally right. If you launch your website this is how people learn about you, what you have to offer, how you can help them, and then inevitably come further down your rabbit hole when they walk through the door of your virtual storefront through your website.

But how do you create a website? What pages do you need? How do you make it pretty?! What about an app? *cue overwhelm and shutdown mode* Don't worry. We're going to cover all of that in a minute.

Before You Find Your Favorite Site Designer Or Website Builder

Let's just outline the sequence of events that happen when someone finds your website:

1. You then welcome them into your digi-home (website) and if they're the right fit, they'll want to kick their feet up and stay awhile.

This is very strategic, because you need to be SO. SPECIFIC. on exactly who your ideal client is, and your website content is speaking directly to that person and their pain points. The excellent news is that when you have your niche (ideal client) nailed down, Uncle Google is going to reward you for that focus by sending loads of free traffic to your website via search results; aka Search Engine Optimization.

Those website visitors will then decide (self-select) if they are a fit for your offers or resonate with your message: aka if they feel “at home” with you. Some will and some won’t, which is the point!! You don't want everyone. FILTERING IS YOUR FRIEND

2. Your ideal clients who resonate with your message, trust you, and want more of what you've got will then opt-in to your email list and go to 1st base with you.

You're attracting exactly the right people with strategic content that's irresistible to your dreamies, also known as your niche, and they're jumping onto your email list automatically through your website. If you provide good content, they will beg to give you their email address.

3. Send them an automated email sequence(s) via email marketing to sell them on your paid offers and services, but that's a post in and of itself.

For now, though, let's focus on your actual website. Here's the best news of all if you're building a website as a nutritionist or health coach online: people pay you on your website! They don't pay you on your Instagram profile or your free Facebook group. Sorry to say, neither of those are where you should be spending your time if you don't already have a website that is attracting your dream clients like bees to honey right now.

Your #1 Priority is to "Buy The Land" and start building your website on a custom domain if you haven't already!

So, let's get to it. Time to prioritize your beautiful, strategic and sales-optimized website right now. You can thank me when that first PayPal email sales notification comes through to your inbox, ok?

Website Considerations:

Let's keep with the real estate analogies for now. Did you know I'm a real estate broker? I can't help myself...

1. Are you building or renovating your website?

If you already have a website that is working for you, that’s great! Don’t reinvent the wheel here….you'll just “renovate” your existing website using the following framework.

But if you don’t have a website up and running that’s already working for you, you’ll be building from scratch based on the decisions you make right now.

2. Is this website design a DIY or are you paying a contractor?

Translation: Do you have more time or more money to invest up front? It's cheaper but costs more time for you to build your own website than the bigger monetary investment in an all-in-one solution that will save you lots of time by providing templates.

3. Who is going to keep your website updated?

Can you easily add or edit content on your site when needed? Make sure you can so you save yourself lots of frustration in the future, even if you hire someone to build your site in the beginning! I can't emphasize this enough: You have to be able to make basic edits and tweaks to your own website!

Cautionary tale: Wordpress is a low-price website platform that is great for web designers who want all the customization options, but the learning curve is steep.

4. How are your paid clients going to be working with you?

Do you need to incorporate a specific platform or functionality in the near future for an online course, membership site, private community forum, client app, webinars or Zoom sessions?

If so, this can be a great time to look ahead and make sure you choose a platform that will be able to easily grow with you over the coming months, and we'll go into more detail on that below.

The 2 Best Options For Building A Website

Just like real estate, you invest your resources into improving and maintaining your assets.

I have used several different softwares and websites in my 4+ years as a health coach online, including recently including a free health coach app for my members which has been fabulous.  So I can shorten the list of potential website platforms for you and save lots of headaches.

Though, if you want a full recap and review on all the softwares I have used, you can find that on this page.

OPTION 1: Use Squarespace As A Website Builder Or Content Management System

There are lots of website builders available, but I can only speak to what I have used and what many of my clients and members have also had success with, which is why I recommend Squarespace.

My first website was built on Squarespace, which I was able to successfully create and grow without any previous technology experience whatsoever. This website builder offers almost everything you need.

Squarespace Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Low cost but very easy to customize with drag-and-drop templates
  • You can process payments directly from your Squarespace storefront after setting up your payment processor (Paypal and/or Stripe) which is perfect for selling 1:1 consultations or packages
  • Blog included
  • Very customizable and the out-of-the-box templates look great if you don't want to do too much design work
  • Many choices for a website template.

Cons:

  • You will still need to have a separate Email Service Provider to integrate on your Squarespace website to build your email list (very important!!)
  • If you'll be creating online courses, a membership site, or members-only resources of any sort you will need to host those outside of your Squarespace site for an additional fee, which can get expensive and also confusing for your clients/members who have to navigate between different platforms

OPTION 2: Kajabi - The All-In-One Website Builder

If you've been hanging around here for any length of time, you know that I'm a Kajabi Evangelist, because after years of spending so much time and money on trying to automate and streamline my online nutrition business, Kajabi came to the rescue.

Kajabi is an all-in-one Website Builder, which means literally every single thing you need to start and grow a thriving nutrition or health coach business online is included in one place. You don't need to worry about integrating any other platforms or software, if you don't want to.

Kajabi Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Very easy to customize with drag-and-drop templates for your entire website, opt-in landing pages, future online courses, membership sites, private members-only forum, free app for your customers to download, virtual events like webinars and group programs, etc
  • If you sell products, you can process credit card payments directly inside Kajabi after setting up your payment processor (Paypal and/or Stripe) which is perfect for selling 1:1 consultations or packages, digital courses, membership site with recurring payments, group programs, etc
  • Blog included
  • Email service included so you can grow your email list and send those solid-gold automated email sequences without paying for another software
  • Very customizable and the out-of-the-box templates look great if you don't want to do too much design work
  • Easy login for paid customers to access their courses and resources on your main website instead of a separate platform
  • No transaction fees paid to Kajabi when you process payments on your site (yay!!!)
  • Great marketing tools like affiliate tracking if you choose to pay commission to others for promoting your offers (highly recommend!)

Cons:

  • Higher monetary investment for a small business

Why I Do NOT Recommend Wordpress For Site Design Or As A Website Building Service

Wordpress is another option that many people swear by, but I would really caution against doing a DIY Wordpress website for a few reasons:

  1. It's a very inexpensive platform, but once you buy the paid plugins needed to get your site functioning the way you want it to, it's not so cheap anymore.
  2. You need to continually update those plugins to make sure your site doesn't break.
  3. The learning curve to designing a Wordpress site is steep, to say the least. You will spend so much time learning the new language of Wordpress that you won't have any left to actually make money in your online coaching business!

Final Thoughts

Like I said before, you have to decide if you have more time to invest in building your website assets or if you'd rather invest some money to save the time.

Totally up to you, but if you're thinking of creating any sort of digital assets in the next 6 months, I would HIGHLY recommend checking out Kajabi as an option. It has saved me so much time and headaches since I migrated all of my courses, landing pages, email lists and membership sites over to Kajabi, and I have seen my members inside the Inner Circle have huge success building their health coach websites on Kajabi as well.

See? I told you I was a Kajabi Evangelist.

In fact, I have a ton of extra "bonuses" included when you start your free 28-day Kajabi trial through my partner link because I want you to start getting those email payment notifications ASAP!

I hope narrowing down your website builder options to two solid choices is helpful, my friend.

You can't go wrong with either option!

But what do you need to put on that beautiful website of yours to attract your dreamies and convert them to paying customers?
