DAY 3: How To Get It Done
NOTE: The program mentioned in this training, Your Next $1K, is now called The Profitable Nutritionist™ Program. Same great content, different name.
HOW TO GET IT DONE
It's Day 3, already!
So far you have made your 90 day focus plan that is SIMPLE and measurable, by defining your 3 Essentials, and then broken it down onto your weekly calendar for this week.
Can you feel the momentum?!
Just like any plan, here's how this process can go wrong:
- Trying to cram WAY too much into your week and not allowing space and breathing room for your mind. You can schedule mental breaks during the workday, which I highly recommend!
- Not being realistic with how long things will take and consistently going over in the amount of time you gave yourself. This is what you will adjust as you go: Getting more efficient and also more realistic.
It used to take me 2 hours to write an email broadcast, now I schedule 6 emails during a 2 hour block of focus time...but that didn't happen overnight. - Trying to cram MORE onto your calendar when you finish early instead of enjoying yourself and other priorities besides work.
You don't have to do more just because you can. If you have accounted for your big priorities and focus and gotten done everything you needed to, it's time to mentally clock out and enjoy it!
This may require you to get a hobby and deprogram some workaholic tendencies. What if you never told anyone you were "busy" ever again? - Not evaluating what's working and what needs to get tweaked. Make sure you allow time for this at the end of the week so you can adjust next week's calendar.
Remember, this calendar is just like a brand new meal plan or exercise plan that you give your clients: In the beginning it is an adjustment and all the mental drama will come up. Expect it!
Are you treating yourself with the same grace you would give them?
Nothing has gone wrong when your brain starts negotiating with you and tries to change the plan. PLAN ON THIS HAPPENING.
Plan on dreading everything on your calendar but doing it anyway. You can do things you even when you don't want to do them in the moment. Most of us file our taxes every year even though I've yet to meet someone that says they look forward to getting all their paperwork together and taking the time to do that. We do it anyway.
You will start the initial tasks you planned, and quickly your brain will tell you that this was the wrong priority and it would be much more effective to focus on ____.
This is totally normal because you are a human and that's what our brains do.
I have to reiterate: If you think you need to feel motivated, or inspired, or in flow or alignment to get things done...you will be very disappointed in your business and won't get anything done EVER. Plan on not being motivated and doing it anyway, and I promise you the motivation will show up more and more as you build trust with yourself that you actually follow through.
Planning feels really good, for many of us. This is safe. We've done it before many times....but EXECUTING is scary.
Be onto yourself about this if your brain wants you to plan and re-plan and then re-plan one more time instead of taking imperfect action on what you said you were going to do.
Remember, you are making decisions ahead of time that are in service to your big dreams and goals. They are "get to do's" not "have to do's". You're making a decision, not following a rule.
TODAY'S ACTION ITEMS:
1. Watch the Day 3 video on this page
2. Create a "procrastination protocol" for yourself ahead of time
Be honest with yourself: What is going to stand in your way of actually doing what you put on your calendar each week?
Make a list, and then solve for it ahead of time.
Pro Tip: How would you have your clients solve for the same issues?
Your clients will always reflect your beliefs, so if you don't get this cleaned up you will ALWAYS be attracting clients who think they don't have enough time and there are a million external excuses for why they don't follow through.
When you learn this skill for yourself, and do the things you said you would do even when you don't want to when the time comes, you will be an example for your clients.
